The Lax All Stars Fireside Chat series continues with a guy named Bear, try to tame it. Pitt vs. Slippery Rock scrimmage tonight. Twitter Junk and more.

The Lax All Stars Fireside Chat series is dedicated to exposing the next wave of who’s who in the lacrosse community. Interviews will run Monday through Friday on 412 Laaaaax
Today we are chatting fireside with Bear Brink a high school laxer from Florida

Quick Stats
Age:14
Grade:9
Position:Middie/Attack
High School: Trinity Prep (Winter Park, Florida)
Club teams: Elite Orlando Possums, Team Florida, Possums United
412: When did you first start playing lacrosse?
I first started playing lacrosse after I didn’t make the baseball team spring of 6th grade.
412: What kind of stick do you use?
I switch around a bit, but right now I’m using a Krypto Lyte with a Proton Power. Also, I use a Dolomite Diamond with a Brine Gospel, and I am going to be getting a Reebok 9k for free so I’ll see how I like that.
412: How’s your flow game?
If by flow you mean hair, its very good. If you mean like transition stuff its pretty good too.

412: When you go to tournaments out of state like the Gait Cup, what do you notice most about teams from the traditional lacrosse areas?
I notice that they are very fast, move the ball a lot, and also they all dodge the allies as opposed to the middle. I’ve started picking these things up.
412: What is it going to take for Florida lacrosse to catch up to the traditional hotbeds?
Some areas and teams around here are just as good as most hot bed areas. We’ve got Saint Andrews, Lake Brantley and Lake Highland. They can hold their own against most of the teams up north, especially Saint Andrews. They finished 22nd in the nation last spring. But we just need to get more people into it, I think its growing though. It’ll be up there within 5 years.
412: What are personal goals for the spring?
I need to get faster and improve my shooting on the run.

412: What are your team goals for Trinity Prep this spring?
We want to finish better than .500 for the season. We lost all of our seniors which was over half of the team so we are short a few guys. I think we’ll be ok though. We’ll have lots of freshman playing varsity including myself.
Thanks to Bear for the interview. What a great name. Good luck this spring.
Next week we’ll have a full slate of interviews.

I love the Headstrong Foundation, but those are clown shoes.

I wouldn’t eat at Alex Smith’s burger place either

Sick hotel in Annapolis for the USA team to stay at, but I guess they ran out of money to buy the team proper undershirts.

Pitt vs. Slippery Rock 7:30 PM
Our third scrimmage in as many weeks. This week’s practice was the best one of the fall in terms of ball movement and finding the back of the night.
The loose scouting report on Slippery Rock is their attack runs the offense and the defense is in love with yellow laundry.
There was plenty of nervous energy around practice this week when we heard that SRU roughed up Grove City on Friday. Certainly if you have a competitive ounce in your body you want to win every time, but its fall ball and no result counts. The work we accomplish in 6 v 6 or on man down is more important than beating an MCAL 2 team or an NCLL team. No one remembers fall ball scores.
Make sure to check back tomorrow for video coverage. Also we will release Pitt’s mock up gloves from Brine.
Not a Good Idea
Fast forward to 0:30 for the ugly
