It’s time. The No Days Off Tour has begun.

I leave for Bloomington to be the head coach at Indiana University on Thursday August 26.

The coaching to do list is brutal. There’s a lot of finalizing to be done.

Finalize the two day evaluation schedule

Finalize the fall ball training curriculum

Finalize the spring schedule

Finalize the fall fundraising campaign

Organize our 2011 and 2012 recruiting class watch list

Then I have to find a way to fit in an absurd amount of private lessons because a parent just requested three training sessions a week for the next twelve weeks.

On top of the necessary evils of packing your life up and moving 7 hours west. Good thing the cameras will be rolling to capture any and all mental breakdowns.

God knows I didn’t need that 8:40am text message to kick start the day.

Michigan State vs. Illinois

And there are some highlights.

The Spartans won this match 14-12.

Illinois lost their starting goalie to graduation but otherwise return the core of their team. 22 players, four of them goalies interestingly enough, return for 2010. I would have thought they’d be in the 40s.

Eric Rakoczy is a big time loss and I’ll be interested to see who replaces him. Rakoczy was averaging 15 saves a game last year.

By comparison, NCAA D1 first team All American John Galloway averaged 9.6.

Rakoczy had 14 saves in their 6-5 victory in the conference tournament win over Indiana. He had 22 saves allowing only 5 goals in their 12-8 win over IU in the regular season. Not sorry to see him graduate. Not sorry at all. Fingers crossed extra tight he doesn’t have a bonus year of eligibility.

Dan Dickson and his 58 points due return to Champaign-Urbana. Looking forward to figure out a way to slow him down.
