Shocked and Awed: St. Andrew’s Edition

Like physics, we thought St. Andrew’s being the best looking high school team forever was inevitable. Sadly, that reign has come to an end.

For the last few months we have been thoroughly impressed by anything and everything St. Andrew’s.

Unbelievable talent. (This year’s class features players headed to Stony Brook, UMass, Post, Notre Dame, and Detroit).

Unbelievable on field bravado.

Silly amounts of state titles.  (State Champions – 1985, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009.)

Perhaps the only team in the nation capable of making STX G Force and I Pros still look great.

And they lax it on the regular in beautiful Boca Raton.

Note: The above picture was taken yesterday at Ransom Everglades field. STA won 19-1.

Our world came crashing down around us this afternoon, much like how Lindsey Lohan feels every morning, when we saw pictures from said contest against Ransom.

What’s the problem?

Do the girls tell you you look like an optical illusion?

    in my opinion nothing wrong with a color top and white shorts but when it doesn't match your up you're in some trouble, although i think the same color shorts and tops look professional. dress for success right?

    they match up...they're inverse. to me that makes sense.

    as for the split top/bottom against monochrome kit debate, I say mix it up...Particularly with white jerseys. White on white gets super boring, even crispy nike white on white. You need good piping to keep interest in a head to toe white uni.

    White tops/black shorts is particularly sharp. I also dig white/green, hopkins blue/black, unc blue/navy blue, white/red, and red/black.

    there wasn't a real state championship untile 1997 when the north champ played the south champ. SA was the south champ in all the years prior to 97'.

    they were more than likely the best team in the state at the time but it is bullshet to claim state titles prior to 97.

    my HS team went white on red like that all the time, and vice versa. doesnt look bad at all i think. i mean, obvi i dont because we did it all the time but. to each his own. keep flowin STA.

    i like the color mismatch, but not the size mismatch. see the inserts on the shorts are a narrower than the inserts to the sides of the jersey (or so it seems) and that's what gives it that feeling that the tops and bottoms aren't from the same set. that is the single flaw i see on this team besides the awkward lankiness or #7

    I played on that Ransom field last Saturday and it was 30 times sicker than it looks in those pictures. There's about 2 yards between the football boundaries and water and the stands are about 2 feet away from the sideline

    I think the main issue is in the side inserts. Where the red on the tops clashes with the white on the bottoms, it does look a LITTLE funny.

    Overall though, I am a fan of mismatch top and bottoms.
