New Oregon Uniforms: The Reaction

Sweet Sweet Lax posted the new Oregon uniforms today. Well…

For the last two years we’ve been critical of Oregon’s lacrosse team for playing it safe with their kits and thus failing to capitalize on the momentum created by the football teams outlandish game day clothing. They promised changes were coming for the 2012 season. Those changes have included green TII helmets, green and yellow Riot gloves and these uniforms.

Tough to be awestruck by these uniforms when we’ve seen various versions on the football team prior. Does it feel super weird to you that Oregon isn’t wearing Nike uniforms? Give credit where credit is due, Oregon is trying.

Not really sure about those wings on the shoulders. They’re backwards compared to the wings on the football uniforms. But then again PA said they weren’t trying to replicate the original uniforms completely.

Oregon State’s helmets may have leaked via cell phone pic (official photos coming next week). However, those helmets are decidedly more impressive and a bigger risk than anything Oregon has done to date. Advantage Beavers for the first time ever. Will it help recruiting the way Oregon’s football uniforms have aided the program? Time will tell.

Some Afternoon Notes

Looking forward to watching Georgia Tech versus Alabama later tonight and San Diego versus UCLA tomorrow.

Lacrosse Playground gives you a look at Salisbury’s matte helmets.

Lots of events for the College Prep Showcase (heavy MCLA influence) lined up for this summer.

Captivating, but sad testimony from the George Huguely trial

Cannot get enough of the Indiana Winter Promo video.

American Revolution Promo video coming shortly.

shouldve dropped the numbers lower and included the “O” on the front. Seems like something is missing without the “O” or “Oregon”

    Phil Knight must be pissed

Alex, as the designer of these unis I can tell you they were hindered somewhat by copyrite the lacrosse team does not get all the fixins the football team does. Also should these have been more “wild” with carbon fiber or fades we would be talking about how “summer ball-ish” they look. I personally feel this is a happy medium from the awe-struck first glance at the FB Rose Bowl look and a classy but appropriet look for one of the more serious MCLA programs out there.  Just my .02

I dealt with the same copyright/trademark issues as a player and club president at Oregon… Such a pain in the ass. I am more than impressed with how these turned out – Well done Jerry!

Part of Oregon “playing it safe” in years past has always been due to the team trying to stay loyal to the Nike brand. I know it seems totally backwards, but if Oregon had stuck with Nike uniforms this year, they’d never been able to have a uniform like this. They’d probably be wearing stock black and whites. Maybe one day Nike will take notice and give them the football treatment… until then, just like 412 said, you’ve got to respect that Oregon is making the extra effort. Balling on a budget…

Its a shame that with a cooperative administration these could have been even more than what they are. With that being said Im told the team is excited and at the end of the day thats what matters. Thanks Jeff!!

he might have to buy ProAthletics about it.

    Yea… speaking of that budget

They’re better than the gloves, for sure.

Uncle Phil and Nike haven’t stepped up yet for Oregon lacrosse, so he probably hasn’t noticed.

i dont believe the club has any allegiance with nike, and they shouldn’t. club teams has tight budgets and don’t want to increase dues (412 might agree with that). when the university wants to help fund the program, they can have some nike allegiance
