Maverik, Nike, Squirrels, and Recycling
Custom gloves from Maverik and super custom uniforms made from plastic.
Busy day for Maverik teams yesterday. Washington College and Haverford both received their gloves. Can you tell which gloves belong to which program?
White outside colored inside for most teams going with Maverik Rome gloves this season. Haverford is the first glove featured by the way. One of my colleague’s said, “Washington went from one of the best gloves to one of the worst gloves in one year.” LPG has two other shots of the Washington gloves here. Still loathe the brown leather in between the index finger and thumb.
We dislike the STX gloves because they aren’t custom enough. Maverik introduces these wild, but stale patterns which most teams are avoiding except Washington who gently poked at checkerboard with a stick. Be sensible here. The only team that should put checkerboard on anything is Tennessee. The only team that should put argyle on anything is North Carolina. Maybe this is just a bad year for gloves.
However, we have yet to see the Brine and Warrior offerings and Penn State’s Nike gloves are incredible. If Nike wants to make a crimson version for IU for 2013, we’ll listen.
You should be following Maverik on Twitter. And if you’re following Maverik on Twitter, you should be following 412.
Nike U strikes basketball uniforms again.
Do we really care that it takes 22 bottles of water to make these uniforms? Does it make it okay to play for Nike U instead of your school since we’re recycling? All uniforms can be found on Nike Blog.
When does Nike give their lacrosse teams the “Pro Combat” treatment? Will it be this year? Do you count the teams receiving the Hypercool uniforms during the playoffs as the “Pro Combat” treatment?
