Indiana and the D1 Question

We get it all the time. When is Indiana going D1? To which we reply, hopefully not any time soon.

If Indiana went D1 tomorrow, this current roster and coaching staff would be replaced. I’m all for growing the game at the D1 level and I subscribe to the theory if you want to make an omelette you’ve got to break some eggs. We broke a ton of eggs over the last two years. We just started making this MCLA omelette. Although we don’t deserve or feel like the school owes as the opportunity, we’d like to finish what we started last summer.

Having said that, there’s no time table or discussion on Indiana going D1.

I hope we can go the Michigan route rather than the Marquette route. I hope this coaching staff has something to do with our success at the MCLA level before making the jump to D1, if and when that occurs.

Another D1 Question

If Loyola can’t sell out their stadium for their season opener, why would BCS schools be interested in adding lacrosse? Will it become a revenue generating sport if all BCS schools add lacrosse? Do all BCS schools have to add lacrosse for it to become a revenue generating sport?

We still believe significant D1 growth is a generation or two away. More great photos from the Loyola/Delaware game courtesy of 24 Seven Lax here.

UVA Tweets Brand New Uniforms

This afternoon UVA tweeted a picture of their navy uniforms which are new for 2012.

Those are the Back Breaker uniforms right. Does it seem strange that Nike wouldn’t give Virginia the Hyper Cool uniforms?

    Backbreaker > Hypercool.

Lots of lax choices all within 30 minutes of the B-more area. That leads to average size crowds at every venue unless UVA or Syracuse are in town. It’s hard for anyone to sell out in February since most high school kids are still wrestling and playing hoops. But you do make a good point. Thanks for the plug .
