412: How did last spring end up?

Wilson: Last spring ended up way better than I ever thought possible. My team ended up going 20-1 and we won the state championship. Kansas or not, I am still glad my team won and was able to go 20-1. Our only lost came to the top ranked Missouri team Rockhurst, 12-6.

412: Busy summer for you on the camp circuit. Where did you go? How did you do?

Wilson: This summer was great and it was really an eye opener for me. I went to two camps this summer, Dixie Top 150 and Top 205 West. If I were to rank my self on how I did at both camps, I would say I exceeded my expectations at Dixie Top 150 and played average at Top 205 West. I think the main reason I played average at Top 205 was because of the talent level there. I hung fine with everyone I just could not build the momentum at the beginning of camp like I did at Dixie. Overall both camps were great experiences, I even had a one on one meeting with Bill Tierney before the camp started which was very exciting because he is a legend. What I learned is that I need to bring a harder work effort whenever I step on the field and that my left hand needs to become natural for me.

412: What is it like to know you’re the chief indian of flow expertise in Kansas?

Wilson: Its a good feeling because it took me forever, I mean forever to improve my swag and flow. I joined the group three years ago and posted my first picture and got BEYOND roasted, if I remember correctly there were over twenty comments about how bad it was and stuff I needed to change. Luckily, I caught on quickly and now I am recognized as a flowbot.

412: How far behind is Kansas lacrosse? What will it take to get the sport to the next level?

Wilson: First off, something not a lot of people know about me is the fact that I am from Cincinnati, Ohio which is a lacrosse hotbed in my opinion and I played there for 4 years then moved to Kansas because of my dad’s job. I am super happy we made that move as well because the skills that I have learned and the players I have met in Kansas are awesome and have made me the type of player that I am today. Kansas lacrosse is the basement of the lacrosse world. Try going to a camp and telling a coach you’re from Kansas and I guarantee you that you will get an odd look. The one thing that will boost this sport to the next level is being a sanctioned high school sport. I go to a private school and play for a public club team, I am always trying to recruit kids from my school to play and there response is always “I would if we had a team.”

412: What are the team goals for this spring?

Wilson: My team’s goal for this spring is to repeat exactly what we did last year, but this season we want to be undefeated. This year we are traveling to St. Louis to play three or four teams so we can experience better competition. Another goal for the team this year is to play more fundamental lacrosse. Last year, we were very fast and ran more of a run and gun type of offense. This year we want to do the same but without critical errors. We also want to limit are penalties on defense because we had 6 in our loss to Rockhurst and they ended up beating us by six last year.
412: What are your personal goals for the spring? Doing anything special this off season?
Wilson: I have two words on my mind and they are state championship, I want to lead my team to a undefeated season and a repeat in state. I also want to improve my communication on the field with my teammates because I will be moving to LSM. This off season I will be attending the Chicago Showcase and SoCal 99 hopefully catching the eye of the coaches.

412: What are your college plans?

Wilson: As a lacrosse player I have one goal for college and that is to play D1 lacrosse. I am only a junior and hopefully I will catapult my status these next two years so I can catch the attention of all of the coaches out there. I want to be only the second lacrosse player from Kansas to go D1. I need to put more work and more effort into practice and wall ball for this to happen, but mark my words I will go D1.

Good luck to Mr. Wilson and Olathe this spring. Very exciting to hear about lacrosse making strides in Kansas.

Kyle Harrison was raving about this video. Now I know why.

The marketing people Nike/Jordan hire could get a president elected, sell swine flu to a baby, and convince the world that Nick Cannon is a grown man all before lunch.

Such a happy day to know D-Wade is with Jordan. I never want to say the word Converse again.

Notes

  • Filming/documenting/making a memory for The Road to 15 Experience Academy for Young Men Conservatory begins tomorrow
  • IL introduced their “Gear Zone” last week. It consisted of Mark Millon talking about a Warrior head. For “Gear Zone” to be meaningful, IL will have to provide independent reviews of the product. Millon talking about a product made by the company he works for does nothing for consumers.
  • We are apologetically hard on IL. However, providing coverage about growing the game in Africa is something we can rally around. Scraton’s Keving Dugan is doing something amazing. Learn how you can help.
  • Duke basketball is important again. Thank God.
