FIlm Studies: Washington vs. Stevenson
Good God Mustangs, it’s just a scrimmage.
Fresh recap from yesterday’s Film Studies session:
Unfortunately, despite this being the year 2010, E-Lacrosse videos cannot be embedded into blogs nor have they updated their YouTube account in four months which isn’t that bad for them. Nevertheless, you will have to open another window to watch the video. Stay here for your notes.
And we now present the Shoremen vs. the Mustangs at Stevenson.
One of my former high school athletes is expected to be a big time contributor on the defensive end of the field for the Mustangs this year. So even though I had nothing to do with his development as a long stick middie, I’m still very proud and excited to watch him compete in the CAC.
The camera was right behind WAC’s bench. Great emotion from their coaching staff.
Jimmy Dailey may or may not have had 9 points. We’ll do our best to keep track.
Just looking at this field causes my turf burn from 9 years ago to act up.
0:45 Stevenson being effective in transition. How many times do you get an unsettled opportunity like this per game? Better be ready to capitalize.
1:02 412 native Brooks DiFiore getting involved off the draw with a quick slap to the hands followed by a ground ball effort.
1:20 Jimmy Dailey displays the best COD in Division 3.
Dailey Watch: 1 goal
1:57 Toyota commercial
2:20 WAC goalie fails to control the rebound, second chance opportunity for Stevenson.
2:38 Great shot of a WAC middie going low to high from Hell, only to strike a Stevenson pole in the face.
3:33 WAC is either man down or showing zone. Stevenson scores in transition 10 seconds later.
3:49 Stevenson’s faceoff man is very talented. They don’t get a clean break but they still score unsettled. The WAC goalie’s long afternoon has only just begun.
4:16 Strange to see WAC in the offensive zone. Middie rips a strong overhand shot off the pipe. TING.
4:32 Strong low to low effort from a WAC middie after an unwarranted adjacent slide.
4:57 After being stuffed on the left side, Dailey sneaks from the right side. Dailey 2 goals
5:05 Big open field hit but the WAC middie holds onto the ball.
5:14 Maybe a little mumbo action for Stevenson. Strong shot from the wing.
5:25 Two rough highlights of WAC offense and then…a Toyota commercial
6:15 Some things open for WAC just for a moment, just long enough for low to high shot from 11 yards. Great angle to watch the shooter and goalie. So great, we’ll show it to you millisecond by millisecond.
He’s going low.
He’s definitely staying low.
Here she comes.
Oh no…
To the corner…Vince has got it! (Name the athlete, name the situation, name the announcer.)
6:38 WAC d mid gives up the middle of the field, goal Dailey backside. Dailey Watch: 3 Goals
6:49 Stevenson fogo proves he can shoot on the run. Look out world.
7:05 Sold ball movement by WAC for the low to low shot from the wing.
7:20 Hold me closer tiny dancer. Mustang middie prances through the defense for the goal.
7:33 A near donnybrook!
7:42 A Mustang beats a shortie at X, soaks up the double team, then proceeds to bury the ball on the WAC goalie who has seen pounds of rubber.
8:00 Things get worse for WAC. Own goal from maybe 2 miles away.
8:03 Richie Ford with a kind word to the pole after scoring on his own net.
8:10 Ford digs out a bad pass, carries through the defense, and goes low to high for a hilarious angle. The crowd eats it up.
8:26 WAC tries to run “Hoosiers.” They immediately score.
8:38 Next level change of direction by Dailey. Goalie gives up the near corner. Dailey Watch: 4 Goals
8:47 It’s Dailey again finishing left handed. Dailey Watch: 5 Goals
9:01 Does that count as an assist? Dailey Watch: 5 Goals 1 Assist
Notes
As we mentioned yesterday, Billy Bitter did not play in UNC’s scrimmage against Loyola. We are now hearing the injury is more serious than expected. Definitely have our eye trained on Chapel Hill for updates.
Tonight our fourth Major Big Time MCLA report drops
We’ve lost another player to injury. What a violent fall ball. Good thing we are..
One week away from our scrimmage and the end of fall ball which means…
Recruiting tournaments are coming up. Let’s do some traveling.
