Ready for Sirrine Stadium?

The MCLA switches from a park in Greenville to a high school football stadium for the D1 and D2 semifinals.

On August 29, 2002, the newly renovated Sirrine Stadium was dedicated. After much planning and months of construction to “restore the past,” festivities honored “generations of greatness.” Students and faculty particpated in a “snake walk” to the stadium from the school. At the dedication ceremony attended by numerous dignitaries and friends of the school, former United States Secretary of Education and South Carolina Governor Dick Riley spoke. The renovation project, which began with a ground-breaking ceremony on March, 25, 2002, has resulted in a new stadium entrance, enlarged pressbox, bigger restrooms, more spacious locker rooms, and enhanced stadium seating.

Sirrine Stadium has a long and rich history of tradition in the Greenville Community. Once the home of the Furman University Paladins, it also supported the Greenville Senior High School Raiders. Fall weekend nights and afternoons around Sirrine Stadium have been filled with the noise and hoopla of football for generations of Greenvillians. The efforts to preserve this center of cultural and athletic tradition have culminated in a outstanding center for future enjoyment. Revolution at Summer Slam: Final Chance

Down to the final chance to register for the Summer Slam tournament with the American Revolution.

Join the Revolution at Episcopal Academy in Pennsylvania June 23-24. We’re looking to add a few more players to the roster.

The American Revolution, the ultimate summer lacrosse experience is focused on maximizing exposure to:

Elite competition - Our tournament schedule will pit you against some of the best clubs in the country. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. Playing against new teams is a great education for young players.

College coaches in the stands - We’ve selected our tournaments based on what club teams have attended these tournaments in the past. The best club teams attract the most college coaches. Tournament selection is based on over 12 years of studying the club lacrosse circuit.

College coaches on the sideline - Few club teams are led by college coaches. Our goal is to challenge players with college level theory and instruction. University of Washington assistant coach Ryan Trude and Indiana University head coach Peter Tumbas will be on staff this summer.

Recruiting knowledge - Many families are experiencing the recruiting process for the first time. We’re committed to educating players and their families regardless of their final destination. Players will receive a DVD of at least one tournament game and a written evaluation following the event.

New adventures - This team wants introduce you to new competition, new education, new teammates, and new travel experiences. Lacrosse is such a fun sport and we want everyone to enjoy themselves even during the stressful summer recruiting season.

Here’s the summer slate. Attend all four or pick and choose. We’ve selected the best tournaments on the circuit. Why are these the best events? Premier talent is present and there aren’t 100+ teams competing which means you will be seen by the coaches in attendance. Don’t miss an opportunity to play for a team coached by college coaches in front of hundreds of other college coaches.

The roster is made up of athletes from all over the country. So far players from California, Florida, Connecticut, Illinois, Texas, and Georgia are signed up. With the exception of the goalie positions at Hotbeds and Adrenaline we have open spots available. While the team doesn’t practice together, we do make sure everyone is on the same page in terms of offensive and defensive schemes prior to each event. Players can sign up on our website.

Club Ball Episode 5: Home Openers

Confession: this was the first Club Ball episode we watched. It’s fantastic and we need to catch up on the previous episodes immediately.

The behind the scenes look at a top 15 program provides a litmus test of the rest of the country. Do you operate like this? How close are you to operating like this? What do you need to do to be more like Colorado?

We find the moments with Coach Galvin in the huddle to be the most interesting. MCLA coaches are so politically correct in post game videos and in Jac Coyne quotes. It’s refreshing to watch a leader under stress reacting without fear of offending someone.

If you didn’t find yourself rooting for Colorado during that Clemson game, you’re probably inhuman.

It’s a shame their season ended in the first round. A Club Ball episode detailing a run to the semi finals or even the finals would have been sublime. Congratulations, albeit belated, to the filmmakers.

At some point, we’ll have to schedule a game with Colorado.

Warrior’s Online Generator, The Rebirth

At around 1:24AM, we decided to check Warrior’s online generator. While the glove section hasn’t been updated to include new gloves yet, they are now allowing you to design shafts, heads, and helmets. Needless to say we didn’t get to bed at a reasonable hour.

Matt Graupmann scored the overtime winner to help Cal Poly advance to the quarterfinals then raced over to the sideline to celebrate with… the Gauchos.

Cal Poly’s senior laden offense takes the field against Michigan State tonight at 7:30PM.

Great showing by Duluth after a long regular season. The Dogs graduate their four of their top five scorers, but have a nice class coming in. Always reloading with Minnesota talent. But, what will become of the UMLL in 2013?
