Encore Dye Job

Feeling a touch patriotic as we prepare to invade England.

Not that patriotic. I only used one color.

Last evening, the Brine Encore bathed in a navy RIT dye for seven to eight minutes. Follow the journey.

The American Revolution hopes to honor our Founding Fathers by sticking it to the British on their own soil before engaging in friendly competition in Copenhagen. I’m not sure there is anything more in spirit with the American Revolution than using a wooden shaft. Minutemen style engaged.

My preferred butt end tape job does nothing to help the weight. Interested in your own LAS wood shaft? Buy them for $35 in the LAS Store.

Navy presents the biggest challenge for me as a mid level dye artist. Trying to find the right moment to pull the head before it turns purple wrecks havoc on my nerves. The pictures give the impression that head is navy but when I look at it in person I’m having trouble convincing myself it’s not a shade of purple. Has anyone figured out a hard formula for a navy dye job, i.e. water temperature and time?

We’re coming for you Europe. Purple/navy dye jobs and all.

I think it is all about water temperature… A few months back I died 2 heads in the same bucket of Navy RIT, one after another. The first one came out how you described above while the second one, which went into the water after it’d been cooling for at least 10 min, came out a much lighter hue of navy.

You nailed it on the water temp – reheat the dye bath between heads. Love dying but too much bad luck with breakage…
